Hi guys,
I tried to run this stick with Mac OS X but failed. I tried drivers from Indosat, three and others but their mf 622 driver didn't work with k3565-z Has anyone a guess?

Those downloads from KPN are for the ZTE MF628, which is neither identical nor compatible with the K3565-Z. At least under Windows the drivers for the MF628 won't work for the K3565-Z. So I expect the same to apply for MacOS.

Vodafone has not released any update for the K3565-Z so far, so there is no download available.

I use the current beta of "MWconn" to control the K3656-Z.
You will find it here:
http://www.mwconn.com/beta.html
I deactivated Windows autorun feature on all drives so the Vodafone software is not loaded when I plug in the stick. This is my way of "debranding". :-)

I wonder how big an ISO image can be to fit on the flash...
I tried 70MB and it worked. But testing with larger images is veeery slow - any experience?

RE: Size of flash memory?

I tried to find that out after disassembling my device, but the designation of the NAND-flashmemory chip (H8ACS0E...) does not comply with the designation conventions published by Hynix (http://www.hynix.com/inc/pdfDownload.jsp?path=/upload/products/gl/products/dram/down/NAND Flash.pdf). Also Google couldn't help.
However I guess the capacity amounts to 128MB, of which roughly 30-40 MB should be reserved for the firmware. At least that's what I conclude from the specifications for the ZTE MF628, which according to it's specifications (http://www.starhub.com/content/dam/support/broadband/docs/mobilebroadband/MF628_ProductSpecs.pdf) requires 34 MB for it's firmware.
You could try flashing an even larger ISO - I expect a write error to pop up if the memory is full.
Would be funny to have some of those small Linux distributions (e.g. Damn Small Linux or Puppy Linux) in the flashmemory, so people could boot a whole operating system including drivers for the K3565-Z and go online straight away. However it may be wiser to install Ubuntu on a microSD-drive as a persistent installation, which would save settings and files etc.

I have Vodafone K3565-Z with VIP SIM card in (Croatian provider) and I have tryed soft method. After I have disabled the flashmemory & extract the contents from the downloaded RAR file to the microSD-drive it makes two autoplay windows (Vodafon software on one drive and Join air on the other). It takes me whole morning just to make modem works again with default SIM card :( I've tryed to run Join air software from desktop shortcut but nothing happened. Does any1 knows what is wrong (I have vista x64 on my PC)?

I also have the Vodafone ZTE K3565-Z locked to Vip SIM :) Bedside debranding, I'd also like to unlock it. Is DC-unlocker the correct SW for this? The 15€ price seems a bit steep - with price I paid for it this would be more than unlocked modems are sold on e_bay. Is there any cheaper way? The unlock code for K3565 (Huawei) is sold for €5.5, but not for K3565-Z. Thanks.

The "hard method" worked perfectly for me (I just needed to install one driver manually which is also included in the modified ZTEMODEM.ISO). Thank you very much for the description :o))).

I will get the stick in a few days and I don't want to install the software coming with it. How can I make this point: 1. Disable the flashmemory by executing the following AT-command: AT+ZCDRUN=8 I already know there should be a hyperterminal, but I can't find it at Win 7. Thank you for helping me :-)

The PCB layout shows the modem chip Qualcomm MSM6246. Some research for the hardware specs shows: This chip only can handle a max HSDPA speed of 3.6 Mbit/s! It's a low-cost chip for cheap cell phones. Please correct it in your specifications. Vodafone has the right value published: 3.6 Mbit/s.
The built-in RTR6285 (PMIC) has 7.2 Mbit/s but that's not the modem.

As you can see on the PCB layout picture there is a connector on the upper left of the ACPM-7381 chip, which could be a Hirose MS-156.
Can anyone determine if this is an antenna connector or just a test connector for inspection purposes?
