operating modes
The E538x supports 3 modes:
- if connected through USB it will be recognized as a Ethernet adaptor providing internet access and access to the web GUI
- if connected through USB and Mobile Partner is being startet, it will be recognized as plain 3G USB modem like any other Huawei 3G modem
- if WiFi is activated by the "WIFI/WPS" button, it additionally works as a WiFi router

unlocking
Connect the device to your computer by USB and install the dashboard software.
Close the dashboard and download these files and follow the instructions given below:
1. run 'qmat5.06'
a. hardwere forensics -> use mobile port2. open file xx.txt at the end you will see 8-digit number (see details at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw0VMvbtfto ), copy it.
b. serial com port -> com4 - huawei mobile connect - 3g aplication interface (com4)
c. line where is "start" pick "Read EFS"
d. mark "Alternative Method"
e. hit -> Lets Go
f. save the file as xx.txt
g. if imposible to save xx.txt open saved file with NOTEPAD
3. open CardLock_UnLock-e58xx.exe and paste the 8-digit number and unlock (only if you see imei of your modem).
close all the windows.
4. put another SIM card into your device and see if it works

hi, i upgrade my my HUAWEI E5832 to firmware ver 716.11.17.07.108SP02. My problem is, i cannot manage my wireless router due to no log-in password. is there anybody who can share the log-in password?

Hi, my friend just bought me a Mi-fi (Huawei E5830) from 3UK through the Pay As You Go plan. He said the sales person said that as long as I am within the 3 international network, I can even use a 3HK SIM (SIM from 3 Hong Kong) to get online. However, I cant get online when I insert the 3HK card, but I can get a roaming internet connection when I insert the 3UK PAYG card. Is there anything I need to set? or the modem is locked? If it is locked, can I debrand/unlock it by updating the "Mobile Partner" from other Huawei modem? Thx a lot for your help!
